Ernest Tanor Marfo, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication Team in the Asunafo South Constituency of the Ahafo Region, has called on the party’s rank and file to remain calm, tolerant, and focused for the next general elections in 2028.
“In light of recent unfortunate developments within the party, I urge all friends, sympathisers, and well-meaning supporters of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to stay calm, resolute, and committed to the overarching goal of party unity,” he stated.
According to Mr Marfo, it is particularly regrettable that at a time when Mr Agyapong had launched a noble peace initiative aimed at fostering harmony and cohesion within the party, he was met with disrespect and inflammatory remarks, especially from Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.
“Such comments from a regional party chairman—whose role demands maturity and exemplary leadership—are not only unfortunate but deeply disappointing,” he lamented.

While affirming Mr Agyapong’s right to defend his integrity and legacy, especially in the face of unwarranted personal attacks, Mr Marfo appealed for restraint: “In the interest of the greater good, we humbly implore him to rise above such provocations and continue in the spirit of unity and purpose.”
He cautioned that such conduct runs counter to the values of fairness and togetherness, which the party must uphold as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

“The focus of every committed party member must be to build a strong and unified front capable of securing electoral victory,” he said. “Our political strength and credibility—earned through decades of hard work, sacrifice, and loyalty—must not be undermined by internal wrangling and divisive rhetoric.”
Mr Marfo emphasised that both Kennedy Agyapong and His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remain central pillars in the current and future prospects of the New Patriotic Party.
“Their leadership, vision, and influence must be accorded the respect and strategic consideration essential for the sustained progress of the party,” he added.
To this end, he urged the National Executive Committee (NEC) to take swift and decisive action to address the ongoing verbal altercations among party stalwarts.
“Chairman Kwame Baffoe must be cautioned—and if necessary, sanctioned—to send a clear message that divisive conduct and public misconduct will not be tolerated in a party founded on discipline, mutual respect, and unity.”
Extending an olive branch, Mr Marfo also conveyed a message of reconciliation to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong: “We extend our sincerest apologies for the disrespectful remarks made against you. We plead for your forgiveness—for the sake of the very party you have laboured so faithfully to build. Let us not allow these distractions to derail our shared mission.”
He concluded with a solemn call to action: “This is the time to close ranks, rise above petty squabbles, and work together to ensure victory for the NPP and prosperity for our nation.”
