Goalkeeper Richard Kingson handed new Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac something to ponder about after scoring for Ghana in the 1-1 friendly drawn game with Tanzania.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper’s second half equaliser, which was his first international goal trilled the 50,000 packed stadium after the host had jumped into the lead with a first half goal.
Wednesday’s friendly was the first for new coach Milovan Rajevac, who assumed official duties after signing a two-year deal with the Ghana Football Association.
With most regular squad members unavailable; Ghana featured a good number of players contending for places in the team as Milovan Rajevac has stated preparedness to give equal opportunity to every player.
Despite their absence, Milovan Rajevac still had the opportunity to see some of the finest home-based talents and experienced professionals available for the national team.
And the Black Stars were not to disappoint even as the hosts shot into the lead through Henry Joseph and defended it to end the first half.
Back from the break, the Ghanaian bench ringed the changes as the Black Stars tried to find the equaliser.
However with less than 10 minutes to end the game, a freekick awarded Ghana in the Tanzania half resulted in the famous equaliser.
Laryea Kingston, who had been taking all the set pieces, was delayed from taking the kick as his brother and goalkeeper, Richard Kingson stepped out of his post to join in the search for a goal.
The goalkeeper soared above the Tanzania defence to nod the cross home, beating his opposite number for the equaliser.
Kingson, voted the All-Star Goalkeeper for the 2008 African Nations Cup, went into wild jubilation after getting his first international goal for Ghana after 58 games.
