A Nigerian man’s attempt to marry a Slovakian so that he could have legal stay in Britain has been busted after it was realized that the two could not spell each other’s name, Daily Mail has reported
UK officials at a pre-marriage meeting in July observed that the fake bride, Joseph Iwueke, 33, was trying to read from the back of his hand some basic information about his fake bride, 29-years old Slovakian bride Ingrida Stojkova,
The registrar had also noticed that the two could not spell their names when they came by his office a month earlier.
Police in Leeds have now jailed the two for conspiracy to facilitate breaching UK’s immigration law.
Two others - Obinna Odelugo, 49, and Robert Stojka - were also arrested at the ceremony and found in possession of bundles of cash.
