Two persons seen in a viral video molesting an 11‑year‑old girl have been arrested by the Inspector‑General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.
A Police brief identified the suspects as Grace Mensah, 75, the victim's grandmother, and Godfred Osei Akoto, 25.
They were arrested in Agona Jamasi, Ashanti Region.
The victim has been rescued, and both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to assist with investigations.
The Police said the video was detected on TikTok and other social media platforms, prompting public calls for intervention.
Preliminary investigations showed that the video was first posted by a user identified as Tina Adjei, with the TikTok handle @tina.adjei7.
According to the Police, the footage showed a young man assaulting a girl in the presence of an elderly woman, later identified as her grandmother.
The team proceeded to Agona Jamasi, where Grace Mensah was arrested.
She confirmed she was the grandmother of the 11‑year‑old victim.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Godfred Osei Akoto, the man seen in the video assaulting the child.
In his statement, Osei Akoto said that on December 6, 2025, the victim, who lives with her grandmother, left home and did not return.
He said he later found her at about 0012 hours near the Presbyterian School.
According to him, the grandmother authorised him to punish the child, leading to the assault and the recording and circulation of the video.
The Police brief said Grace Mensah corroborated this account during interrogation.
