As concerns grow over weak enforcement of standards and their impact on public safety, consumer protection and national development, JoyNews is convening a National Dialogue to interrogate the problem and chart a path forward.
The dialogue, scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., will be held under the theme “Declining Adherence to Standards: Counting the Cost, Enforcing Standards to Drive National Development.” It will be broadcast live on JoyNews television and Joy 99.7 FM.
From substandard products and unsafe food to poorly regulated industrial practices, the cost of weak standards enforcement is increasingly visible across Ghana’s economy.
The JoyNews dialogue seeks to move the conversation beyond complaints to solutions, bringing regulators, industry leaders and policymakers into one room.
Leading the conversation will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse; Executive Director of Rosehill Aluminium Company Limited, Barima Y. A. Osei-Bonsu; and Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
They will be joined by Kofi Kapito, CEO of the Consumer Protection Agency; Mr. Roderick K. Daddey-Adjei, Deputy CEO of the Food and Drugs Authority in charge of Food Registration and Safety; and Dr. Awal Mohammed, Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority.
