A one day seminar aimed at sharpening the skills of Sports Journalists, ahead of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations has ended in Accra.
The seminar, under the sponsorship of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, was attended by sport journalists drawn from both the print and electronic media.
It was under the theme, “Delivering quality reportage and coverage of Africa Cup of Nations”.
Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director Stanbic Bank said his outfit is aware of the challenges that the Cup of Nations presents to the media for them to ensure accurate reportage of events.
He said that soccer is a dynamic sport hence the need for consistent and relentless training for sports journalists so that they would be abreast of the new trends of the sport.
Mr Andani said the decision to support the seminar was motivated by his outfit’s belief in developing the talents of people and encouraging them to develop their full potential.
“We also understand why training and capacity building is so very important to us, because we measure our leaders by how well they grow and the challenges they lead”.
He said Stanbic Bank would want to see a successful tournament that would be on the minds of Africans and the hearts of the world and it is the media that would be expected to play a significant role in that direction.
Mr Andani, however, called on the media to remain neutral in their reportage of events.Source: GNA
