Starbow, a leading airline in Ghana has broken new grounds with its first international flight to Cotonou, Benin Wednesday, August 15.
This feat makes Starbow one of the fastest growing airlines in Ghana barely 12 months since it commenced operation.
The Starbow Accra-Cotonou route which has commenced with five flights per week is expected to increase to daily flights.
The domestic airline giants on its first flight to Cotonou, ferried some selected journalists to experience firsthand the new BAe 146 aircraft the airline acquired last week.
The direct flight to the West African city is the first of its kind in Ghana and takes approximately 45 minutes only as against the 8 hours it takes to get there by road.
Speaking to the journalists before the historic trip, Dr. Brock Friesen, Starbow’s co-CEO revealed that the airline is committed to offering its clients safe, reliable, affordable and upbeat flying experience.
According Dr. Brock Friesen the Accra-Cotonou route is just the beginning of a new era for the airline as it readies itself to launch into the West Africa sub-region. The company has scheduled to begin its commercial flights to Abidjan early September.
Dr. Friesen added that regular flights to Monrovia, Liberia and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso are also in the offing and would be rolled out in the distant future.
Starbow since its inception has tripled the size of the domestic market in Ghana from 120,000 to 450,000 with its first two aircrafts and expects to replicate this success with regional services using an expanded fleet.
