The senior national team the Black Stars have avenged their two nil defeat by their Gabonese counterparts by beating them 2 - 0.
With this result the Stars have won three of the four 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Playing under huge expectations, the Stars nearly fetched the first goal through Manuel Junior Agogo.
Hit man Prince Tagoe declared his intentions by hitting the bar.
He staged a comeback scoring the opener for the Stars.
Sulley Muntari nearly doubled Ghana’s lead from an acute angle.
Anthony Annan scored what could best be described as a best goal contender but it disallowed under strange circumstances by the South African referee.
Harrison Afful's cross at the closing stages of the first half almost cushioned the Stars’ lead.
The Prince of goals missed a glorious opportunity resulting from a leading ball that caught him facing only the Gabonese goalkeeper in the early minutes of the second half.
The Gabonese showed they were capable of upsetting the Ghanaians being comfortable on the ball.
The Black Stars needed a number of goals to avoid getting into trouble with technicalities.
If the Gabonese get good results from their other matches, they will be head-to-head with the Stars and the number of goals scored will determine who goes through.
Sulley Muntari solidified the Stars’ lead in the 75th minute having received a well-fought-for ball from Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.
The fast pace Owusu-Abeyie had replaced Laryea Kignston who had had a good game but struggled at certain stage of the game.
Anthony Annan got injured in the last five minutes of the game at a time when the Ghanaian bench had exhausted their substitution.
The Stars therefore had to play the rest of the game with ten men.
The referee’s whistle signaling the end of the game brought relief to soccer fans in the country.
The Gabonese players probably out of frustrations showed disrespect by walking out of the field while the National Anthem was being played.
