Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is set to leave South African side Mamelodi Sundowns after receiving offers from France, Russia and Belgium for the centre-back.
Belgian giants Standard Liege are among the clubs interested in the defender who is out-of-favour at the South African club.
Sundowns says they will not prevent Sumaila from achieving his dream of playing in the top-flight leagues of Europe and will allow the Ghanaian to leave if the offer is right.
The 21-year-old defender joined Sundowns at the beginning of the season from Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko and formed a solid partnership in the heart of the defence alongside Alje Schut.
But after the arrival of Thabo Nthethe from Bloemfontein Celtic, Sumaila has been relegated to the bench.
This has resulted in clubs making offers for the centre-back, with one believed to be coming from Standard Liege.
“I won’t mention the name of the clubs but I can confirm to you that we have received offers from Russia, France and Belgium and are prepared to listen,” Sundowns communications co-ordinator Thulani Thuswa told KickOff.com.
“It has always been our policy not to stand in the way of players, and if the offer is right for Sumaila we are prepared to engage with interested parties,” adds Thuswa.
Should Sumaila leave at the end of the season, it will leave Pitso Mosimane with Wayne Arendse as the alternative option for the centre-back position.
