Nigeria’s Super Eagles have resumed training ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against Gabon, following a temporary boycott over unpaid bonuses.
The players and officials had earlier refused to train in Morocco, where the match is set to take place, in protest against delays in settling their allowances and appearance fees.
Team captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed on Wednesday that the matter has been resolved. “Issue RESOLVED. Outstanding financials cleared and on the ground. Team is UNITED and focused as before on representing NIGERIA with our maximum for the games ahead,” he said in a statement.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reported to have intervened swiftly to address the standoff, ensuring the team’s preparation schedule was not further disrupted.
With tensions now eased, the Super Eagles are back in full training as they aim to secure qualification to the 2026 World Cup in North America.
