Residents of Tamale last night lay siege at the Tamale forest following a radio announcement that a child had been kidnapped by some unidentified men.
Correspondent Mahama Shaibu reports a hurriedly organized search party worked throughout the night trying to rescue the child.
According to the radio announcement, a girl from a group of three was whisked into the forest near the Tamale Sports Stadium when the children were returning from the market.
Mahama Shaibu said the search party was unable to find the supposed child as at midnight.
The Police this morning tell Joy News they would expect the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit to take up the matter without indicating if they intend to continue with the search.
