General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), says teaching duration for elementary school would be reduced to four hours as part of key safety measures put in place as students return to school.
Thomas Musa speaking on JoyNews’ AM show Monday, said the authorities are not considering to maintain the usual 8 am to 3 pm teaching schedule for students.
He was emphatic they will rather keep students in school for a maximum of four hours.
“We do not expect students in kindergarten and the elementary to stay up in school after 12 noon as Covid-19 is at stake,” he stated.
This measure forms one of the key developed guidelines for students by the government to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning as students return to school, he added.
Reacting to the reopening of schools, some parents have expressed worry on the safety of their children amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
A reason Mr Musa also revealed that the authorities and various stakeholders will set up a meeting to find solutions to grievances raised by several parents.
All of which, he says will be would be made known to the public.
