Chairman of the National Development Planning commission, P. V. Obeng has challenged stakeholders in the financial sector to ensure that the poor and deprived are economically empowered.
He was addressing over two hundred participants from across Africa at the 9th Annual Conference of Africa, Microfinance Network.
According to the NDPC boss, the country cannot realize its full potential if a segment of the population is left out of the development process.
He said the NDPC regards the empowerment of especially, the informal sector, as very important.
Mr. P. V. Obeng said the moribund state of the informal sector had very serious repercussions for the general economy, especially the formal sector.
