Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, has promised her ministry’s unflinching support to the Women in Tourism and Business Association.

The Minister made this statement when executives of the Women in Tourism and Business paid a courtesy call on her on arrival from the Czech Republic.

The group also seized the opportunity to also congratulate the Minister on her appointment and officially introduced executives and members of the Association to her.

Addressing the team, Madam Barbara Oteng-Gyasi who doubles as the chairperson for the group, stated that the Ministry will assist the Association to ensure that the team’s aim of increasing and promoting Ghana and Ghanaian businesses is achieved.

“Women in Tourism and Business, I would want to assure you that as Ministry we are going to support you so you can also fly the flag of Ghana high in order to increase the footprints of tourists into Ghana,” she added.

The Tourism Minister urged the executives of the association to engage the private sector especially those owned by women in diverse industries across the world, to forge partnership and grow the business of women in Ghana.

Barbara Oteng-Gyasi also promised to travel with the team on their next trip to scout tourism and business opportunities in the diaspora for women in Tourism and Business.

Ambassador Nancy Sam, President of Women in Tourism and Business expressed the teams’ gratitude to the Minister and assured her that the association will work hard to make Ghana a household name on the world market.

She stated that the Association had also visited Zimbabwe, South Africa, Czech Republic and Suriname to explore women-related business opportunities that can be pioneered in Ghana.

The Brazil Ambassador to Ghana, Maria Elisa De Luna, who was part of the delegation hinted her embassy’s intention to train Ghanaian women in different vocational skills for free in Brazil. This is to offer support for women in tourism and business through the Ministry of Tourism.

She added that, she looks forward to signing an MoU to that effect.

Women in Tourism and Business, which was established in 2017, consists of women at the top levels of tourism and trade-related businesses who have come together to promote tourism and trade in Ghana and beyond and to promote women in Ghana.
