A final year student of the Tweneboah Kodua Senior High School has revealed that his colleagues got the Integrated Science Paper two of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) ahead of time.

This according to him is because they sat for their paper, two hours after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)'s designated time since they protested against their headteacher.

“We had the questions before going into the examination hall. Our friends in other schools sent them to us so we had solved it ahead of time”, the student spoke to Nhyira FM on anonymity.

“It took every student less than an hour to complete the 2 hour 30 minutes paper.”

A video that went viral on Tuesday captured a female student screaming out orders for the destruction of school properties because school authorities allegedly want them to fail in the final exams.

Her colleagues are either heard shouting in support or standing idle.

The footage of the school’s dining hall showed furniture toppled and food scattered on the floor.

Club-wielding male students were also seen marching through the streets of Kumawu, to the office of the District Chief Executive.

The students had alleged that the Headmaster smashed an invigilating teacher’s phone for no apparent reason which they found intimidating.

Though they will not go on record, they also accused the headmaster of physical abuse.

It was the timely intervention of the District Chief Executive, Samuel Addai Agyekum, which resulted in the students returning to the examination hall for their second paper.

Mr Addai Agyekum said the school’s administration will work with education authorities to resolve the matter appropriately.

“We will not do anything to mar the peaceful atmosphere we are enjoying. It is in the interest of the headmaster that he left the examination hall for the paper to continue. We will work with higher authority to find a way forward,” he added.

A three-member investigative committee has since been set up to probe student unrest at Tweneboa Koduah SHS in the Ashanti Region.

The committee established by the Sekyere Kumawu District has one week to submit a report.

Sekyere-Kumawu District Director of Education, Joseph Donkor, heads the investigative team.

The others are Police Detective, Inspector Emmanuel Oppong Sarpong, and District Deputy Coordinating Director, Gideon Boateng.
