Managing Director of UBA Ghana, Abiola Bawuah has been adjudged best expatriate businesswoman of the year at the maiden Ghana Expatriate Business Awards in Accra.
The award has been conferred on her for the hard work and immense contribution to the Banking industry in Ghana.
The award scheme organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Millenium Exellence Foundation seeks to recognize the contribution of foreign businesses to the Ghanaian economy.
Receiving the award on behalf of the M.D, Daniel Adjei, Team Member, Marketing and Communications at UBA, noted the bank is poised to do more for the growth of Ghana’s economy.
Addressing all the award winners at the night, President Akufo-Addo disclosed that Government lost GH1 billion in revenue since the beginning of this year as a result of the implementation of the tax cuts announced in the 2017 budget.
He, therefore, challenged the expatriates to use Ghana’s stable economic environment to help create the job for the youth.
The president also assured the business community of its full support for their businesses.
Unilever Ghana was adjudged the top Business Expatriate Company. Chief Executive of Unilever, Yeo Ziobeieton and Mike Thakwani of B5 Plus Limited, winner of the Best Expatriate Company in the Metal and Steel category expressed their appreciation to the Government of Ghana for creating the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Other award winners of the night include Interplast Limited, Nestle Ghana, and Melcom among others - in their respective sectors.
