The Bank of Ghana has confirmed the 50 Ghana cedi note with enhanced security features will be in circulation from next Tuesday.
Acting Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah announced this at the meeting between Vice president Kwesi Amissah- Arthur and some business and economic journalists.
This endorses reports by JOY-BUSINESS earlier this week.
“We would be launching the new 50 Ghana cedi note next week precisely on Tuesday” he noted.
JOY-BUSINESS has gathered the upgraded notes will bear the signature of Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur because they were printed in June when Mr. Amissah-Arthur was the Governor of the Central Bank. The upgraded notes will be in circulation with the old ones until it’s completely withdrawn.
Dr. Wampah added that measures implemented so far by the bank are yielding results.
“The last few months have really been a challenge especially in the foreign exchange market but we have been able to ensure some stability here and we hope that this would continue through with the policies we’ve initiated” he added.
