A farmer, Mr. Kobena Oguan, has appealed to agencies engaged in public education on the cedi re-denomination exercise to use the local languages instead of English.
He made the appeal during an education exercise on the re-denomination by Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Directorate of the National Commission for civic Education NCCE) at Ajumako Bisease.
Mr. Oguan, popularly called "Original OB" noted that since majority of the people did not have formal education using the English numerals in quoting the conversion would not go down well with them.
Miss Georgina Yeboah, District Director, NCCE who took the audience through the need for the exercise and conversion from the cedi to GH Cedi cautioned them against writing telephone numbers on the notes and soiling them with oil.
The audience appealed to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to provide resources for intensification of the exercise after it had taken off.
They were of the view that the absence of the 50 cedis equivalent in the new currency would influence price increase and urged BoG to address the issue.
