The Volta Regional Schools Sports Organizer, Mr Winston Sedoalor Amengor has attributed the Region's poor performance at the just ended Inter Schools and Colleges Sports Festival to indiscipline among the students as wells as lack of motivation by stakeholders.Mr Amengor said that most of the Region's sportsmen and women failed to take instructions and directives from their instructors and were largely defiant to instructions. The Organizer who was speaking to the GNA in an interview in Ho said even though individual athletes won various events, the regional team, however, failed to glitter as a result of the circumstances.Mr Amengor said although the Region was targeted by the rest, lack of motivation from sports loving people in the Region also affected the team's performance. He attributed the poor performance of the team to indiscipline of students in camp and the lack of motivation and support from stakeholders in the region.Mr Amengor lamented that the team received no support from stakeholders in the Region except the GETFUND and Capitation Grant, which he said also came a bit late.He therefore appealed to sports loving individuals and organizations in the Region to show interest in sports development and help step up preparations for future competitions so as to bring honours to the Region.Mr Clement Doe, Volta Regional Sports Development Officer expressed disappointment at the performance of the Region in the just ended 2007 Inter Schools and Colleges Sports Festival at Koforidua. He said that the placing of the Region at the fifth position at the Festival was due to ill preparations.Mr Doe in an interview with the GNA Sports also regretted that the Region began its preparations for the Festival very late and it was thus unable to fine-tune arrangements before going for the Festival. He described the Region's performance as below expectation and an indication that all was not well with sports in the Region.Source: GNA
