Legon Cities Communications Director, Kwame Dwomoh, has conceded that the club’s relegation from the Ghana Premier League is a result of poor performances on the pitch.
The Royals' demotion was confirmed after a 4-1 defeat to title-chasing Nations FC on Monday, a result that leaves them 17th on the table with just three matches left in the season.
Speaking to 3Sports, Dwomoh admitted that while management made efforts behind the scenes, the team simply failed to deliver when it mattered most.
“Unfortunately, we’ve not been good enough on the pitch that’s why we’ve been relegated. We did our best as management. Obviously we decided to run the club along certain models.”
“If you look at the team at some point, we were going in for big stars. At some point as a club, we decided we will go for youth and experience. Because when we brought in the stars we were not getting results so we decided to go in for a blend.”
With the 2024/25 season winding down, only one relegation spot remains unconfirmed, with Legon Cities and Nsoatreman already down.
