AngloGold Ashanti has emphasised its promise to integrate its business process with sustainable environmental management.
According to Senior Manager, Community Relations, AngloGold Ashanti Africa, Emmanuel Baidoo, the operational efficiency of mines would amount to nothing if business processes are not integrated with sustainable practices that focused on the strict adherence to environmental and social regulations and guidelines.
Speaking to Joy Business at the 2024 West African Mining and Power Conference and Exhibition, Mr Baidoo said AngloGold Ashanti will deepen its engagement with key stakeholders across all sectors of the economy to support economic growth
"AngloGold Ashanti is a company that is ready to engage other sector players. Sustainability has been one of the key areas we really focus on to keep the company running", he said.
On the company's Corporate Social Responsibility, he indicated, is to invest more in the areas in which the company operates.
"We know the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility. Hence, we are bent to make sure we expand investments in the area we operate”.
He also called for continued collaboration between the government, industry players and local communities to ensure sustainable development.
“We must continue to work together to overcome the challenges that confront the industry, including the issue of illicit financial flows. As we work to drive sustainable investment opportunities, we must ensure that these investments benefit host communities who bear the immediate consequences of our work,” he stated.
AngloGold Ashanti Limited is an independent and global gold mining company with a diverse high-quality portfolio of cooperation, projects and exploration activities formed in 2004 by the merger of AngloGold and the Ashanti Goldfields Corporation.
