Former Liberia captain George Weah has called for the Lone Star's German coach Antoine Hey to resign or be sacked.Weah is unhappy that Hey failed to lead Liberia to the final stage of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations.Hey himself seemed on the point of quitting in June but was persuaded to stay as coach despite failure in the 2010 qualifying campaign."A coach that goes into a competition and doesn't qualify should be sacked or he resigns," Weah told BBC Sport."Then bring in someone who has knowledge of the game to promote the team, that's what happens everywhere else in the world."The former World Footballer of the Year, who is currently at university in the USA, refused to blame the players for the failure to qualify."The players are serious; if you know someone is not serious and you still send for him to play then you yourself are not serious," he said."You bring a coach that has never coached for success and doesn't know what to do with the players."He comes, plays games and doesn't get results and he stays around, it shows even the administrators are not serious."Weah is also unhappy that sports officials do not listen to former sports stars for advice."I can never be happy because the sports authorities refuse to collect the blueprint for success for sport from some of us who were brought up on good programmes," he complained."You cannot run Lone Star without a budget, players have to be paid incentives and be given the right facilities."However Weah seemed to rule out becoming directly involved himself."[People] have to understand life takes different turns but being in politics won't eliminate me from making decisions or bringing suggestions for sports," he added."Let's not put politics in the middle because this is a national thing."Source: BBC
