Police in Tamale have arrested two people who allegedly battered to death a woman they accused of being a witch.The two accused Kumbian Tagun, a 62-year-old widow of bewitching a 23-year-old boy, Nuhu Sule in Gilic, a community close to Bunpkrugu Yunyoo district in the Northern Region.The deceased was said to be in possession of the soul of the 23-year-old for which reason she was subjected to severe beating until she collapsed and died, Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, Police Public Relations officer in Tamale told Myjoyonline.com on Monday.To confirm if the deceased was actually dead, the soles of her feet were burnt into ashes, Mr. Tetteh narrated.The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Nalerigu Baptist Medical Centre awaiting autopsy.Describing the act as "stone age" and barbaric, Mr. Tetteh said the two will be dealt with according to the law.He said the police is conducting further investigation into the matter and will bring to book all persons linked to the death of the woman.Nuhu Sule and his father, Sule Kumog, 60, have both been charged with murder and will be arraigned before court on Tuesday.Meanwhile, Rafik Banle a brother to the deceased told Myjoyonline.com his father had been informed that the deceased was going to be taken to Gambaga witch camp to be detained.Hours later they were informed that she had been beaten to death.According to him, his sister until her death lived in peace with her neighbours even though she had had “petty squabbles” with them in the past year.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
