Over 1,500 youth from more than nine countries across the world are partaking in the on-going 2010 World Camp in Ghana. The purpose of the IYF World camp is to enrich and strengthen the hearts, minds and bodies of the youth while promoting unity amongst them.
This year’s eight-day camp is themed ‘Inspiring the Youth for a Change Tomorrow’, with special focus on “Youth and Conflicts”. IYF seeks to create awareness among the youth on the need to develop their mindsets and become the elements of change in society.
Highlights of this year’s world camp are the Youth Cultural Festival slated for Thursday 22nd July at the Action Chapel on the Spintex Road, Accra. This Cultural Festival, with free admission to the general public, shall showcase spectacular cultural performances from different parts of the world.
Another ground-breaking event expected to entertain participants and the general public is the Classical Music Concert by the Gracias Choir. The South Korean based, Russian trained choir shall trill participants with local and foreign renditions, as part of their Christmas Cantata. The venue shall be Accra International Conference Center on Saturday 24th July 2010.
As part of the event, Free Medical Screening shall be organized for participants and the general public, at the Good News Mission Retreat Center, Community 12 Tema, the Tema Mantse’s Palace New Town and the Tema General Hospital. In view of this, a 50-member team of Doctors and Medical Practitioners form South Korea arrived on Sunday July 18, to render this service in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
International Youth Fellowship (IYF) is in partnership with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, National Youth Council and the Ministry of Education. Other stakeholders include the Ministry of Information, the National Union of Ghana Students, and Joy 99.7 FM.
Some dignitaries expected at the Youth Cultural Festival include the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Rashid Pelpuo, Minister for Youth and Sports; Hon. Akua Sena Dansua, Deputy Minister for Information; Hon. James Agyenim Boateng and the Minister for Education; Hon. Alex Tettey Enyo,
A delegation from South Korea comprising the Founder and Chief Advisor of IYF, Pastor Ock Soo Park, the President of IYF; Ki Kwon Doh, and a Korean and the 50-man Gracias Choir are also expected to grace the Youth Cultural Festival.
