Wendy Shay seems to have learnt a bitter lesson from the huge flak she received during a visit to former president John Agyekum Kufuor earlier this month.
The singer came under public scrutiny for what many said was her poor sense of fashion when she visited the former First Gentleman.
Last Friday, however, she was covered up when she, together with some ambassadors of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The ‘New Artiste of the Year’ winner at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards wore baby pink suit and trousers. She had pink shoes and a black handbag to match.
This is a clear departure from the very tight and stomach revealing outfit she wore to visit former president John Agyekum Kufuor.
After the backlash from the visit to former President Kufuor, the singer released a statement to render an unqualified apology.
Her statement read: “On the 4th of July, 2019,I posted an image of myself and His Excellency Former President John Agyekum [Kufuor] on my social media timeline.
“This was after I visited him with my fellow Youth Employment Agency Ambassadors officially. The image I posted went viral on social media for the wrong reasons and I will wish to render an unqualified apology to His Excellency and the board and Management of the Youth Employment Agency.
“I had no intention of bringing his good image into any public disrepute. I would wish to apologize to the general public as well with most of the comments being directed to my outfit. I am a young lady and I am still learning. To err is human, to forgive is divine. I promise to do better next time. Once again, I am sorry.”
Apart from Wendy Shay, other ambassadors of YEA who visited the Asantehene included EIB CEO Bola Ray, CEO of MakeUp Ghana Rebecca Donkor, actresses Emelia Brobbey and Bibi Bright, and rapper Kwesi Arthur.
