A seven-year-old disabled boy says his dream of becoming a doctor is back on track after he was gifted with a wheelchair following social media publication on his plight.Baba Karim who lives in Ejura in the Ashanti Region has suffered from a physical disability since he was born. His legs became so thin that he has been unable to walk with it all his life.So crawls on the ground, a condition his mother, Hajara Mamoud, says makes taking him to school a major daily struggle.Officials of the Rural Smile Foundation, which works to support persons with disability took an interest in the child when they spotted him and his mother at a meeting organized by the group in the Ejura Community.“I asked whether he’s in school and was told yes but he doesn’t have a wheelchair. So, I took a picture with him and circulated it on Facebook and sought for support,” Abubakar Saddique who is the founder of the organisation explained.Member of Parliament for Agona East in the Central region, Queenstar Pokuaa Sawyer, who saw the pictures of the little boy invited him and the mother to her residence in Accra. The legislator then gifted him a wheelchair and an undisclosed sum of money.Karim who says he wants to become a medical doctor so he can heal sick persons says this will help him show up in school with ease and concentrate on his studies.The MP says she will work with the Ejura MP to help get medical attention for the boy so he can recover fully and walk.
