A dumpsite in the centre of Esikafo Amba Ntem, a suburb of Mankessim in the Mfantsman Municipality of the Central region, continues to expose residents to health risks.
The site, which has been there for more than five years, has forced some of the residents to vacate their homes.
Residents say the Municipal Assembly has not done anything about it, a situation they described as causing anxiety, due to the powerful stench and floating of plastic wastes in the neighbourhood.
The residents say attempts to get the assembly to provide them with a container, has proved futile and the situation has compelled some of them to dump their refuse there.
Madam Efe, a resident complained about the siting of a piggery around the same area which makes it difficult for them to cope with any time it rained.
Municipal Chief Executive of the Mfantseman, Ken Kelly Essuman, told this reporter that the Assembly is working to relocate the site.
Mr. Essuman condemned the residents whom he accuses of creating a problem for the entire community which has become the burden of the Assembly.
According to him, the residents have refused to register with the waste management companies to take care of their waste but chose to dump their refuse anywhere.
