Private legal practitioner Martin Luther Kpebu has been selected to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) in the United States.
He is joining participants from 23 other countries across the world to examine the complex U.S. foreign policy decision-making process.
Such a process affects a wide variety of cross-cutting global issues, including human rights and international development; trade and economic integration; environmental protection; and security cooperation on international crime and counter-terrorism.
Participants will explore the federal roles of the executive and legislative branches and the public in initiating and changing foreign policy, as well as the interaction among them throughout the policy lifecycle.
Participants will visit federal agencies responsible for implementing foreign policy to discuss interagency coordination, strategic communications, and the role of international partners.
The International Visitor Leadership Program is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program.
Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts.
