Amid drumming and dancing, hundreds thronged the Kumasi Airport on Tuesday afternoon to show their appreciation to the overlord for the Asanti Kingdom as he touched down.
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was the only monarch in recent times to have addressed the UN General Assembly and the proud Ashantis could not hide their joy but meet their king with a heroic welcome at the Airport.
The high point of his visit was the historic speech he delivered on ‘Culture of Peace’ at the UN General Assembly High-Level Forum.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life, including political party representatives, traditional leaders, students and indigenes besieged the airport to give the overlord of Asante a rousing welcome.
