The management of the new Sege Polyclinic is under intense pressure to close down the facility over poor security due to non-existent lighting system. Both workers and patients complain bitterly about how they often encounter huge snakes, other reptiles and other dangers when accessing the isolated facility night and day.Speaking to the media some patients and residents said it was difficult for them to access the health facility at night when the need arises."I was nearly crushed to death one night when I was leaving the premises with my daughter who was sick and had been attended to.I was stopping a vehicle but another vehicle which was overtaking nearly hit me because we were standing on a very dark compound, "Madam Naomi Agbedam, mother of an outpatient, said."The Assembly must provide the facility with lights and make the place safe. At night when you are even passing, nothing shows that this place is a health facility. Its only politics that they do.When you are speaking for something to be done, they tag you as being sent by a political party, " a resident said. When GNA contacted some of the workers, they said the street lighting issue brought about a misunderstanding among them on their staff WhatsApp platform when some of them asked management to do something about it because workers and patients were exposed to mortal danger."Some of us will not be able to come to work at night or evenings when the need arises because I can't walk in the dark to where I work. You know that in Ghana unless something bad happens to someone, no action is taken and I will not be that victim, " a staff said."We don't have water and light but whenever we complain, they tell us they will fix but had never been done. Two doctors have been posted here but their apartment is not furnished as promised by the District Chief Executive during the commissioning, " another staff alleged. The Ada West District Chief Executive, A. Lawer Akrofi told the GNA that the Assembly took the necessary steps to get street lights installed 4 months ago but the Electricity Company were not cooperating."They are simply frustrating our efforts. For the water, it's a huge problem as there are no pipes laid around that area because there was no settlement at the time.In the interim, we supply them with water whenever they request for it," he said. The GNA observed that the Polyclinic did not have access to pipe-borne water, a place for buses or taxis, a shelter for food vendors, no speed ramps in front of the facility, among others.
