The Accra Regional Police Command has denied some aggrieved customers of the defunct gold dealership firm, Menzgold the permit to embark on a march on Tuesday, February, 11.
The group had written to the police requesting their permission to march to the Jubilee House to present a petition to President Akufo-Addo.
But in a response, the Accra Regional Commander DCOP Frederick Adu Anim said the permission cannot be granted.
“…the Command is concentrating on the fight against robbery and other violent crimes as we enter the threshold of the year, as a result, we cannot accept any form of demonstration, picketing and walk during this period,” the letter said.
The police also said the group has, in less than six months, demonstrated on the same issue and “as such will not tolerate any further demonstration as other citizens must also have their interest served by the police”.
