District Chief Executive for North Dayi has warned beneficiaries of the Disability Common Fund to desist from selling items they receive from the Assembly.
Edmond Kodjoh Attah observed that some beneficiaries who receive refrigerators, popcorn and sewing machines, wheelchairs, container-shops, among others from the Assembly resort to selling them on the market.
He gave the warning when he presented items that cost the assembly ¢1.5 million to 51 people living with disabilities at a ceremony at Dayi. Beneficiaries also received ¢200 each.
People with disabilities are allocated with 2.5 per cent of the Assembly’s Common Fund to improve their living conditions and also empower them to be financially independent.
According to Mr Kodjoh Attah, all those caught selling those items would be arrested and prosecuted.
The DCE urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity and utilize it wisely to make them self-sufficient in the near future instead of being at the mercy of their families or begging on the streets
