The Reformed Patriotic Democrats (RPD) has denied every holding secret talks with some political parties in the country, with the view to merging with them to contest the 2008 elections.
The party said it had the potential and capacity to contest the elections without seeking the support of other parties especially the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.
A statement issued in Kumasi and signed by Mr. Kwabena Adjei, Acting Chairman of the party described the speculations as attempts by some disgruntled elements to divert the RPD’s political attention, focus and agenda.
It said “It would be premature for the RPD to allow itself to be coerced to deviate from its agenda since it had its own principle and ideology of building a formidable party which was responsive to the needs of the youth”.
The statement urged supporters of the party to treat such speculations with the contempt they deserved since there was no “iota of truth in them.”
