A Cape Coast Circuit Court on Monday granted GH¢ 2,000 bail with two sureties to be justified to Bismarck Appiah 18, a former Junior High School student from Denkyira Wawase, for allegedly assaulting three policewomen and causing unlawful damage.
Appiah pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on Monday, April 28.
However, two other accomplices of Appiah are on the run. They are Francis Kodua and Laward Twum Barima.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah that on April 7, this year at about 2100 hours, Constable Roberta Kambire arranged with her colleague Constable Mercy Dadzi to meet at a place to buy some food.
He said on the way Appiah and his accomplices followed her and when she confronted them, they insulted and assaulted and tore up her dress in the process.
Police Chief Inspector Azasoo said, Constable Kambire reported the incident to her two other colleagues, who also confronted the three boys, but they assaulted them as well and some them sustained injuries.
He said the policewomen reported the matter to the police and were issued with medical forms to the Twifo Praso Hospital and during investigations, Appiah was arrested but Kodua and Twum Barima managed to escape.Source: GNA
