A Cape Coast circuit court has remanded Kwame Ayittey 24, an electrician in prison custody for allegedly possessing fire arms without authority and attempted murder.
His plea was not taken and would re-appear on Wednesday, July 2.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah, that on June 7this year, the accused entered the premises of Madam Lucy Ampaabeng in Breman-Asikuma at dawn while one of her children was watching television.
He said when her son saw someone about to enter the room, he alerted his mother but the accused took to his heels upon seeing Madam Ampaabeng, but the alarm was raised.
Police Chief Inspector Azasoo said people from the neighbourhood chased the accused but he managed to escape and hid behind a garden in the vicinity and was found by a search party.
The prosecution said a member of the search party, Mr Kwasi Nyaah who spotted the accused and tried to close-up on him, was shot at and the accused fled and was not seen until after two days when he was arrested at his hideout.
Police Chief Inspector Azasoo said during a search in the accused’s room, a locally manufactured gun with a cartridge that had been fired and still lodged in the chamber was found and after investigations charged with the offence.
