Leaders of Abudu and Andani ethnic groups are to meet with the Asante hene for the third time on Wednesday to resolve the protracted chieftaincy dispute. The meeting is geared towards charting a new course for peace between the two clans in the Northern Region. Two earlier meetings had ended in a stalemate, with the Andani leaders resisting plans by the Abudus to bury the overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Mahamadu Abdulai at the Gbewa Palace.According to Andanis once the Abudus have access to the Gbewa Palace they will enskin a new Abudu over lord. They have therefore vowed to resist with force, any attempt by the Committee of eminent Chiefs to allow the Abudus to have access to the Gbewa Palace. This not withstanding, the Spokes man for the Abudus, Alhaji Mudisu Sibiwe is optimistic that Wednesday’s meeting will ensure lasting peace between the two clans.Speaking to Citi News on Wednesday, Alhaji Sibiwe said he hopes the outcome from the meeting will be accepted by both parties. The meeting is expected to take place at the Manhyia Palace.Author: Nathan Gadugah
