A wild fire on Monday destroyed properties of residents leaving in ECOMOG a slum community in Accra near the industrial area.
The fire started around 6:30 am and was said to have affected wooden structures accommodating residents of the area.
Properties destroyed were said to be running into several thousands of cedis.
According to reports, residents managed to put out the fire before the fire service arrived.
Even though the cause of the fire was not immediately known residents who spoke to Joy News claim a candle light might have triggered the flames.
Assistant Division Officer, Aggrey with the Industrial air fire station who spoke to Joy News expressed worry over the lack of information from residents to unravel the cause of the fire.
Aggrey said residents claimed to be occupying the area unlawfully and were afraid to give out any information.
