Renowned spiritualist, Nana Kwaku Bonsam last Friday held what he said was an all-night prayer session to pray peace and orderliness in the December election. The 12-hour long night service that saw him sacrifice 20 rams and 15 fowls at his Sarpeiman-Alafia base in Accra, saw a large attendance.Nana Kwaku Bonsam later told Myjoyonline that even though he had expected a big attendance, he was confounded by the large numbers, which for him meant Ghanaians indeed love peace and would do all in their power to ensure there is peace come the December election.Kwaku Bonsam also conjured an amount of GH¢7,500 which he distributed among the congregation. Asked why he did that, he said he was aware of the financial difficulties many Ghanaians face in their daily lives and for many to have sacrificed their jobs and times to pray for the wellbeing of the nation, they deserved some compensation.Explaining what fetishism has in common with all-night prayer services which are a common feature of Christians, he said prayer is the very sustenance of spiritism, and explained that in times past, traditional priests resorted to purification exercises both in the day and night to rid society of impending calamities. It is therefore ignorance to suggest that all-night prayer sessions are the preserve of Christians. As part of rituals he performed to ask for peace, he fired musketry which he said drives away evil forces, while the congregation lighted candles of various colours; black for driving away evil forces, red for love and happiness, blue for money and wealth and several others.See photo gallery.
