Police on Tuesday morning stormed the offices of Radio Gold, an Accra based private FM station, after it interviewed an alleged NPP activist involved in an electoral fraud.Joy News reports the Financial Controller of the station, Fred Ayesu Lindsey, was subsequently beaten and arrested by police stationed at Dansoman.He is currently on police bail pending investigations.Ronald Acquah Steven, Head of News Programme, told Citi FM the police came in and started beating people at the station, including Mr. Lindsey who was doing his normal work“The police came in started beating certain people and then forcibly entered the premises of Radio Gold to pick Fred Ayesu Lindsey,” he said.Even though he was not at the scene at the time of the incident, Mr. Acquah Steven said information he gathered, indicated that the police were there based on an armed robbery attack they heard.He described Mr. Lindsey as one who is “not a riff-raff on the streets of Accra, this is a chartered accountant”.Earlier, there was a heated argument on the station between representatives of the ruling New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.The debate centered on an interview Radio Gold had with a young man suspected of engaging in an electoral malpractice.The man is alleged to have compiled list of unqualified persons he intended to register.Story by: Isaac Essel
