A bloody clash between two inmates of the Wa Central Prison resulted in a laceration on the lower lip of one.
The two fighters serving time for murder were said to have engaged in fisticuffs following a misunderstanding, and during the fight one sank his teeth into the lower lip of his opponent and ripped it off.
The victim was later rushed to the Upper West Regional Hospital in Wa for medical attention and sources at the prison said the other inmates also ganged up and assaulted the mouth-chewer.
Prison authorities will not comment on the fracas, but Dr. Jacob Abebrese, Medical Superintendent of the Wa Hospital confirmed receiving the prison casualty in an interview with Joy News and said the incident, he was told, happened in the prison yard.
