The Tema Community Two Police have retrieved 27 rail steel slippers believed to have been stolen and hidden in the bush near the Tema Container Terminal (TCT) at the eastern gate of the main harbour.
The slippers were believed to have been stolen from the consignment being used for the construction of the Tema-Sakumono beach rail line.
Superintendent Gabriel Amankwah Dokyi, Tema Community Two District Commander told newsmen that the police had information on Friday at about 0830 hours that some unknown people had hidden some slippers in the bush near TCT.
He said a team of personnel led by inspector Nii Nanka-Bruce acting on the information rushed to the hideouts and found the slippers and collected them to the police station.
Supt. Dokyi however, stated that no arrests had been made promising that investigation was ongoing to bring the perpetrators to book.
He appealed to the public to volunteer information to the police on activities of criminals for them to be arrested and punished to deter others from stealing government properties.
He further advised the public to desist from buying stolen items as doing so was a criminal offence.
