The Eastern Regional Minister was not at in church on Monday to warm the pews but to add expression to his religious inclinations. Mr Kwadwo Afram-Asiedu, has called on Christians to ensure tolerance, peaceful co-existence and respect divergent views to avoid violence and open confrontation during and after Election 2008. He said as major stakeholders in the country’s democratic process Christians had religious and moral responsibility to co-exist with other people irrespective of their political or religious beliefs to enhance peace, unity and national development. Mr Afram-Asiedu made the call when he addressed the Sixth Biennial Conference of Koforidua Diocesan Anglican Church Choristers’ Association at Nkawkaw. The conference was on the theme “Let us go unto Perfection”. He advised the choristers to use songs to promote discipline among the youth. Mr Afram-Asiedu noted that a major problem confronting the nation was the indiscriminate disposal of solid and liquid waste, which had led to the destruction of water bodies and the environment. He advised them to come out with songs to educate the citizenry to ensure proper disposal of waste in the society. Dr Kyeremanteng Amoah, Medical Officer of Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital, advised the youth to take advantage of the global technology advancement to upgrade their knowledge and be abreast with time to become responsible future leaders of the nation. Dr Amoah urged families to educate their children on the need to avoid indiscriminate sexual activities during funerals and other social gatherings to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS. Source: GNA
