A Juaso circuit court has sentenced Kwabena Baah 25, a farmer to nine months imprisonment on his own plea for stealing a bunch of plantain valued at seven Ghana cedis at Atwedie near Juaso-Ashanti.Baah in tears after the ruling pleaded for leniency, saying he harvested the plantain for consumption.Police Chief Inspector Kippo Iddrisu Mahama, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon that the complainant and accused were farmers at Atwedie near Juaso-Ashanti.He said on August 5, this year, the complainant caught the accused harvesting his plantain and took to his heels when he saw the complainant.The prosecution said the complainant chased and arrested the accused who pleaded with the complainant to settle the case out of court to which the complainant agreed.He said when the complainant reached home he reported the matter to the Juaso police, who arrested the accused and after investigations charged with the offence.Source: GNA
