Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has selected Dr. Abu Sakara Forster as his running mate for the December polls.
Dr. Sakara the first National vice chairman of the CPP was selected after months of consultation with the Central Committee of the party.
His selection brings to and end speculations of having Anna Bossman the Acting Commissioner of the Human Rights and Administrative Justice as the only woman vice presidential candidate ahead of the elections.
Sources close to Joy news indicate that Dr. Sakara was the only candidate presented to the Central Committee of the party by the flag bearer, after Anna Bossman expressed little interest in landing the job of a vice presidential candidate
Dr Abu Sakara, has been very active in the on going Nduom campaign and appears to appeal to a broad section of the party.
He is also a Gonja and is directly related to the overlord of Gonja.
Publicity chairman of the CPP Kossi Dede told Joy news Dr. Sakara will be outdoored at the party’s mammoth rally to be held at the Kwame Nkrumah circle in Accra on Sunday.
Thousands of supporters have already thronged the rally ground to signify the resurgence of the party that has only three seats in parliament.
Joy news correspondent George Wiafe who is at the rally ground says the atmosphere is a sight to behold, with all the party stalwarts and supporters dressed in their CPP colours chanting and singing party songs.
“Today will be a day when the whole of Ghana will know that the CPP is on the rise again.” Mr. Adu Ansah Central Regional chairman of the party told joy news at the rally ground.
The rally coincides with the 99th birthday of the CPP founder and first president of Ghana Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
