Former Hearts of Lions striker,Sadat Bukari scored for FC Astra in a 3-2 away win over Slovan Liberec of the Czech Republic in their second leg Uefa Europa league game.
Bukari, who played alongside another Ghanaian youngster, Seidu Yahaya, was brought on in the 78th minute and scored the match winner after 10 minutes.
FC Astra will be waiting anxiously for the draw on Saturday to know their opponents in the Europa League group stage. Sadat Bukari and his Ghanaian counterpart progressed to the group stage of the competition on a 6-2 aggregate after winning the first leg by 3-0.
Both players were in action in the first leg of the game as their Romanian side defeated Slovan Liberec from Czech Republic by 3-0.
FC Astra recorded their 5th win of the season after they won 5-0 over Brasov in their Romanian League in which Sadat Bukari scored his first goal of the season after returning from injury.
Sadat Bukari, who was part of the U-17 side that represented Ghana at the World Cup in 2005 in Peru, was transferred from Ghana Premier League side Heart of Lions to Tunisian team Étoile du Sahel in a $1 million jackpot. He was rumored to have signed a deal with Brondby in August 2008. In the summer of 2012 he signed with the Romanian club Astra Giurgiu. Sadat has so far played 16 matches this season for Astra with 5 goals.
In a telephone interview, Sadat said, “We are very thankful to the Almighty Allah for giving us victory. We are looking forward to progressing to the next stage of the competion”.
He ended by saying “we are, however happy that Sportscrusader finds it important to stay in constant touch with us. We feel abandoned here by the Ghana media. God bless you”.
