Liverpool have reportedly asked after the availability of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani as their struggle to replace Luis Suarez goes on.
Cavani's agent has revealed that Liverpool made an enquiry for his client earlier in the summer transfer window, which has seen Suarez make a protracted £75 million move to Barcelona.
According to Cavani's agent, Arsenal have also asked about signing the striker. "There was much interest in the player during the past six months. I can confirm that Cavani has heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal," Claudio Annelluci is reported as saying in Uruguayan newspaper El Telegrafo.
"He would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision. He is not interested in money and fame, he just wants to be happy playing football."
Having only moved to the French capital from Napoli for a reported £53m last summer, Liverpool would have to stump up a huge transfer fee along with Cavani's big-money wages.
Cavani, who has often been forced to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a wide role at PSG, will be allowed to leave this summer if the right offer comes in.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with a deal, driving up the potential cost of any move for the striker and adding to Brendan Rodgers' difficulties in finding Suarez's successor.
The Liverpool manager has made an enquiry about Falcao's availability but has been told the striker is heading to Real Madrid, according to the Times.
Liverpool were looking to take Falcao on loan, though the £12m loan fee Monaco are asking for, along with Falcao's £10m-per-year wages after tax, have cooled interest from Anfield.
That was another blow for Rodgers after selling Suarez, having said the signing of another striker is crucial. An £8m move for Queens Park Rangers' Loic Remy had already collapsed and was blamed on a failed medical, while £10m teenage striker Divock Origi will remain at Lille on loan for another season to continue his development.
Given Arsenal's £32m capture of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, a switch to the Emirates Stadium for Cavani is questionable.
It is believed that Arsene Wenger's priority during the remainder of the transfer window is a defensive midfielder, with Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho linked.
