Reverend Nti Frimpong of the Takoradi Baptist Church, on Sunday called on Christians to endeavour to keep the peace during the December 7 elections.
He was speaking on "Endeavouring to keep the unity of spirit in the bond of Peace" at the Western Regional Prayer Rally jointly organised by the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and the Regional Committee of Churches to ask for God’s intervention to ensure a peaceful election at Takoradi.
The theme for the rally was "Beyond Ghana @ 50, The Way Forward".
Reverend Frimpong said Christians should continue to offer prayers to God to bless the country with peace in order to safeguard the peace and democracy the country was enjoying.
He asked Ghanaians to have a strong determination to ensure that peace prevailed instead of engaging in violent behaviour.
Reverend Frimpong urged qualified voters to caste their votes in a peaceful manner, adding, politicians should desist from making inflammatory speeches in the run-up to the elections.
Very Reverend Kwasi Arthur Mensah, Superintendent Minister of Bethel Methodist Church, urged Ghanaians to take a cue from election violence in some African Countries and unite to preserve the peace.
