As part of Ghana's Golden Jubilee year activities, a series of highlife music concerts, featuring the kings of genre would be held in venues across the Brong-Ahafo Region, between April 5 and 9, 2007.
The concerts, being organised by the Asesedwa Music Production in collaboration with Chris FM, Berekum and Sky FM, Sunyani with support from the Busia Foundation Ghana, would feature the region's highlife big wigs and legends like Teacher Boateng, the indefatigable Abrekyieba Kofi Sammy, the great Dr. Paa Bobo and the likes in live performances.
The programme would start on April 5 at Seikwa and move to Wamfie on April 6. It would then pass through Drobo/Japekrom on April 7, make a stop at Berekum on April 8 and finally end at Sunyani, the Regional capital on April 9.Francis Mensah Twum, Chief Executive Officer of Synergic Systems and General Manager of G.A.P.I, consultant for the concerts said that, "we decided to put up this event to bring to the doorstep of the people of BA and the world at large, great highlife kings."
He said the series is to compliment the effort of the government in marking Ghana's Golden Jubilee that would also showcases the achievements over the last six years under the President John Agyekum Kufuor.Mr. Twum said it was also intended to use the music medium to convey goodwill messages to the people of Ghana especially those in Brong Ahafo.He said the concerts would also feature the "ground breaking and car-banging" tunes from the lyricist Okyeame Quame and Isaac Wilson of Yesi Nkete fame as the two hip life guest artistes, whiles Diana Hamilton, the gospel starlet from Canada to put the audience in the spiritual mood.The event is expected to attract music lovers and tourists to see tourism sites in the region.Source: GNA
