Aspirants to National Executive positions of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC) have been laying out their plans to keep the partyin power after 2016.
The chairman aspirants took their turn today before the NDC’s vetting committee as they prepare towards the December 20 congress.
Joseph Opoku Gakpo has been monitoring the process and reports the vetting is intense.
Dan Abodakpi, Alhaji Hudu Yahya and Kofi Portuphy are challenging the incumbent chair, Dr Kwabena Adjei for the party's top position.
The aspirants were quizzed on their various track records for the party, evidence of good standing and the assignment ahead of the 2016 elections.
The incumbent chairman was vetted on issues relating to the challenges the party has faced during his tenure in office.
Dr Kwabena Adjei told Gakpo shortly after his vetting that it was a mere formality.
"If I won't win I would have stood. The prospects are good you wait and see," he assured.
Asked if he was questioned about his track record, he said: "I don't think the kind of people sitting there will ask me about my track record because they know it."
"If there is anybody in this country who doesn't know my track record please I have the track record of taking this party to power twice," he said.
He added together with other executives they have transformed the NDC.
One of his competitors, Dan Abodakpi said there will be a miracle in Kumasi on December 20.
"And the outcome of that miracle is that a new chairman will emerge in Kumasi," he stated.
The party has meanwhile conducted the balloting process for all aspirants.
Joseph Opoku Gakpo said other aspiring positions- General Secretary, National Organiser, National Treasurer, Propaganda Secretary as well as 13 National Executive Committee aspirants were to be vetted.
