So Nice, a youth group based in the Northern Region, has appealed to President John Evans Atta Mills to consider bringing back the commemoration of the June 4 uprising.According to the group, which has a link with NDC, Ghana’s thriving democracy could be traced to the uprising. At a news conference in Tamale over the weekend, the Chairman of the group, Mohammed Ahooza Ayuba, the revivification of the day will make the father of Ghana’s modern democracy, John Rawlings, happy. He regretted that the day which used to be a public holiday was scrapped by an Act of Parliament when the Kufuor administration assumed power in 2001.“We want the ex-President to be recognised, he has not been recognised and we want the Mills administration to recognise him…June 4 gave birth to all that we are doing today…all this democracy we are talking of”.Mohammed Ahooza Ayuba added that former President Rawlings’ recent comments showing his displeasure at the slow pace the Mills administration was ruling, were very true and relevant to what pertains on the ground. He likened former President Rawlings’ speeches to visions which must be mulled over time.“Rawlings speeches are just like visions. If you don’t take your time, you will not understand what he is arriving but it you keep your mind cool or calm you will understand where he is going”.
